Volvo Cars (Volvo Cars) recently announced that its venture capital agency, Volvo Cars Tech Fund (Volvo Cars Tech Fund), has made an investment in Israeli optics and imaging technology startup Spectralics.
According to the dealer, the investment value reached 2 million US dollars, which brought the total financing of Spectralics this start-up company to 5 million US dollars.
In terms of the use of funds, it is reported that the funds will be used to accelerate the development of its optical film products for the on-board AR HUD optical solution, to provide drivers and passengers with driving information, and to enhance the ride and driving experience.
In the context of the rapid development of aerospace technology, Spectralics seized the opportunity to develop imaging and optical infrastructure that spanned materials, hardware and software, and realized various advanced optical functions.
Spectralics’ solution includes a multilayer thin combiner (a high-transparency optical film). This optical film can be applied to transparent surfaces of various shapes and sizes, and integrated into the windshield or window of a car/aircraft, and overlay the image on the glass.
According to reports, when applied to the windshield, the technology can create a head-up display with a large field of view. When virtual objects are superimposed on the real environment, a sense of distance can be formed, thereby achieving safety and immersiveness. AR navigation experience.
Volvo Cars believes that the technology can also be applied to advanced filters in related equipment such as sensing, anti-blind front cameras and digital holographic projections.
About Spectralics
Spectralics was established in 2017 as a branch of the Swedish MobilityXlab accelerator project and part of the Israeli DRIVE network (DRIVE TLV). DRIVE TLV is an innovation center responsible for hosting, developing and nurturing Israel's future mobile startups. Volvo Cars is a partner in these two projects.
